Lone Star Conference Honors Pair of South Dakota Freshman, Emilee Boyer and Gabie McConnell

South Dakota Freshman Emilee Boyer and Gabie McConnell received honors from Lone Star Conference.

Emilee was named Freshman of the Year, 1st Team All-Conference, and also to the Freshman All-Conference team.

Gabie was named to the 2nd Team All-Conference and also to the Freshman All-Conference Team 

West Texas A&M senior outfielder Ruby Salzman claimed Lone Star Conference Softball Player of the Year honors to highlight the league’s softball postseason awards, it was announced Wednesday by LSC officials at the championship reception.
 
Salzman, who is from Northridge, Calif., enters postseason play with a .399 batting average and 19 home runs – 66 in her career – and 53 RBIs. She also is top 5 in the league in hits (69), slugging percentage (.832) and runs scored (61). Salzman also has 14 doubles and two triples. Defensively, she is a LSC Golden Glove Award selection.
 
UT Tyler junior Tatum Goff was named LSC Pitcher of the Year after going 33-0 with a 1.17 ERA. The left-hander struck out 199 batters over 197 innings of work. She logged 19 complete games, 12 shutouts and two no-hitters.
 
West Texas A&M’s Emilee Boyer was voted LSC Freshman of the Year. The utility player/pitcher hit 14 home runs with 50 RBIs and went 16-2 in the circle. Boyer also led the 10-player LSC All-Freshman Team.
 
UT Tyler right-handed pitcher Shea O’Leary won Newcomer of the Year honors. The graduate student went 14-2 with three saves and posted a 1.43 ERA.
 
UT Tyler’s Mike Reed was named Coach of the Year for the third straight year after leading the Patriots to their third consecutive LSC regular season title and program-record 51 wins.
 
Overall, 59 student-athletes were honored by the all-conference program.
 
The awards are voted on by the league’s head coaches, who determine a 25-player first team with 16 recognized by position and nine at-large selections, followed by 15 players on the second and third teams.
